Leeds Library and Information Service and Leeds Young People’s Film Festival are thrilled to present 3 fantastic free family events.

Charlie Higson – Wednesday 6th April

Hyde Park Picture House – 4pm

Charlie Higson’s History of Horror. Join children’s author, TV actor and comedian Charlie Higson as he shares his love for all things horror and talks about his heart-stopping zombie-thriller series The Enemy.

Charlie is a huge fan of horror films and books, and started writing the series for his own three teenage sons. Charlie Higson has also written the phenomenally successful Young Bond series which has now sold over a million copies in the UK. He is also well known for his television successes including The Fast Show, Saturday Live, the Harry Enfield Television Programme, The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, Shooting Stars, Randall and Hopkirk Deceased, and most recently Bellamy’s People inspired by his award-winning spoof radio series Down the Line for BBC Radio 4.

Suitable for 11+

People attending this event can also get a free ticket to a screening of Coraline, to be shown at 7pm.

Curtis Jobling – Friday 8th April

Leeds Central Library 1.30-3.30pm

Meet fabulous children’s author, illustrator and animator Curtis Jobling. Curtis designed the hit BBC TV characters Bob the Builder and Frankenstein’s Cat. His picture books include Cheeky Monkey and Dinosaurs After Dark and he has just published his 1st novel for teens, Wereworld: Rise of the Wolf. Find out all about Curtis’ work as a film-maker, illustrator and writer.

Eoin Colfer – Friday 8th April

Hyde Park Picture House – 4pm

A rare opportunity to hear from the fantastically funny and bestselling author Eoin Colfer. Eoin will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of his wickedly brilliant Artemis Fowl series, as well as the much anticipated paperback release of Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex. You may even get to meet Artemis himself! An entertaining event, both for established fans and those new to the series.

Suitable for 9+
