We’re fascinated by the ‘Playing Bingo Short Story Competition’ where you write a short story on the theme of bingo – up to 3,000 words. First prize is £300. More information about the Playing Bingo Short Story Competition. Closing date for this one is 28 February 2013.

Also love the ‘Barbara Pym Society Short Story Competition’ – wish we could write like her! £150 first prize for a short story in her style Entry fee £7. More information about the Barbara Pym Society Short Story Competition. Closes 30 May 2013.

 The Writer’s and Artists’ Yearbook Annual Short Story Competition – First prize £500 and a place on an Arvon course of your choice. Short stories up to 2,000 words on the subject of freedom.
