It was Galaxy book of the year in 2011 and Caitlin Moran’s ‘How to be a woman’ has received some fabulous reviews. We just discussed it at our readers’ group and it had mixed reviews.
‘Part memoir, part rant ‘How to be a Woman’ follows Caitlin Moran from her terrible 13th birthday, through adolescence, the workplace, strip-clubs, love, fat, abortion, TopShop, motherhood and beyond’
Have you read it, what did you think?
Love her quote on libraries: “A library in the middle of a community is a cross between an emergency exit, a life-raft and a festival. They are cathedrals of the mind; hospitals of the soul; theme parks of the imagination. On a cold rainy island, they are the only sheltered public spaces where you are not a consumer, but a citizen instead”
Loved it and bought copies for my sisters for Christmas. Absolutely hilarious with some brilliantly sensible ideas between the laughs.
