Downton fans you might like The Cazalet Chronicle

The Cazalet Chronicle is a quartet of novels by Elizabeth Jane Howard, once married to Kingsley Amis, and is about the shifting fortunes of a large and well-to-do family during the Second World War. It was an instant classic and since their publication The Light Years, Marking Time, Confusion and Casting Off  – have sold more than a million copies. 

A new novel ‘All Change‘ has just been published  – ” It is the 1950s and as the Cazalets beloved matriarch, the Duchy, passes away, she takes with her the last remnants of a world of great houses and servants, of class and tradition in which the Cazalets have thrived. Louise, now divorced, becomes entangled in a painful affair, while Polly and Clary must balance marriage and motherhood with their own ideas and ambitions”

You might have caught them  on BBC Radio 4, they were  recently dramatised in their fifteen minute Woman’s Hour Drama slot.
