The Leeds Book Awards take place annually and aim to encourage children and young people in Leeds to read and vote for their favourite books from a selection in three age group categories.
A number of schools in Leeds actively take part in the awards which come to a grand finale at two awards ceremonies attended by school pupils, staff and the authors themselves. The Leeds Book Awards are a really exciting time for Leeds Libraries and the schools involved so this year we will be giving them some coverage on the Leeds Reads blog in the run up to the main events in May.
Next week we will be posting information on the books and authors in the 9-11 category. Week commencing March 24th is for the 11-14 category and the week beginning 7th April we will be introducing the 14-16 category.
Check out the Leeds Book Awards website here http://www.leedsbookawards.co.uk/2014/index.php The site is full of useful information and great reviews of the shortlisted books submitted by school children in Leeds.
