Coldplay treasure hunt for lyrics in libraries around the world

Mylo xylotoHave Coldplay hidden any lyric sheets in the ghost books/haunted tales we have in stock in Leeds Libraries?
The words to all nine songs on their new ‘Ghost Stories’ album, which will be released on 19th May, have been concealed in stories with haunted themes in books in  libraries around the world. The lyrics are all on hand written sheets by Chris Martin.

One lucky fan has already found the lyrics to ‘Magic’, the first and lead single from the album. Tweets about the treasure hunt started off with a library in Mexico City – “¡Ándale! ¡Ándale!” and sent Mexican fans racing to the English literature section of the city’s Vasconcelos library. There the lucky treasure hunter found Chris Martin’s lyrics in a translated copy of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’.

The rest of the eight sets of lyrics are in unnamed cities “across the planet”, from national capitals to a town of less than 100,000 people. One of the envelopes also includes a “golden ticket” – with a flight to see Coldplay perform at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 1 July. Clues to the whereabouts of the lyrics are available through the band’s twitter account #lyricshunt and fans will be encouraged to visit libraries to find them.
