Now the rights to The Famous Five series by Enid Blyton have been acquired from Hodder by Working Title – that’s more than 20 books- and they will launch a live action franchise based on the adventures.
The books have been adapted for TV before – in the 1970s and 1990s, as well as a 1957 film ‘Five on a Treasure Island’. There was a 2012 German film called Fünf Freunde, based on the book Five on Kirrin Island Again. There may also be a FF musical, as Old Vic Productions recently acquired the stage rights.
Enid Blyton died in 1968, and has sold 100 million books globally.
