The Famous Five shoot a film together

Five run away together‘Their adventures fighting smugglers, thieves and evil scientists, fuelled on a diet of potted meat sandwiches and lashings of ginger beer, have captivated children for over 70 years,’ according to  The Guardian

Now the rights to The Famous Five series by Enid Blyton have been acquired from Hodder by Working Title – that’s more than 20 books- and they will launch a live action franchise based on the adventures.

The books have been adapted for TV before – in the 1970s and 1990s, as well as a 1957 film ‘Five on a Treasure Island’. There was a 2012 German film called Fünf Freunde, based on the book Five on Kirrin Island Again. There may also be a FF musical, as Old Vic Productions recently acquired the stage rights.

Enid Blyton died in 1968, and has sold 100 million books globally.
